Lou Schellenberg

I love being outside and painting is a way to connect with the landscape, weather, and nature. Ordinary subjects in the landscape catch my eye: shapes of sky framed by buildings, patches of grass or soil defined by pavement, and open space between structures.

Whenever it is possible I paint or draw on site or “plein air”. My landscapes painted on site can be quick studies, or, take all day. I use oils on panel, linen and canvas. Larger paintings are constructed inside the studio from studies, memory and invention.
